New Opening Hours
As of September 9, 2008, the Getty Center site and galleries are open:

Tuesday–Friday

10:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m.

Saturday

10:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m.

Sunday

10:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m.

Closed Mondays and on January 1, July 4, Thanksgiving, and December 25.

Public programs and events such as concerts, lectures, and film screenings will still be held at the Getty Center on Friday evenings, but the galleries will close at 5:30 p.m.

Admission
Admission to the Getty Center and to all exhibitions is is FREE, no reservations required.

Parking reservations are neither required nor accepted.

 

Location
The Getty Center is located at 1200 Getty Center Drive in Los Angeles, California, approximately 12 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles.

Driving Directions
The Getty Center is located near the intersection of the San Diego Freeway (Interstate 405) and the Santa Monica Freeway (Interstate 10). Take the Getty Center Drive exit from the 405 and follow the signs.

Parking

Parking is based on availability. Parking reservations are neither required nor accepted.

Street parking in the surrounding neighborhood is restricted.

There are designated handicapped-accessible spaces on the entry level of the parking structure.

Getty Center Tram
A computer-operated tram takes you from the street-level parking facility to the top of the hill. Take the elevators in the parking garage up to the Lower Tram Station (T1).

The tram is fully accessible.

Public Transportation
The Getty Center is served by Metro Rapid Line 761, which stops at the main gate on Sepulveda Boulevard. To find the route that is best for you, call (800) COMMUTE or use the Trip Planner on www.metro.net, the Web site of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

Drop-off
Passenger drop-offs are permitted from cars or vans carrying 15 passengers or less. Drop passengers off in the designated area located outside of the main parking structure.

Taxis
There is a taxi stop on level P1 of the parking structure.

Direct phone lines to city-licensed cab companies are located on level P1 and at the Lower Tram Station (T1).

Motorcycles and Bicycles
Motorcycles and bicycles may be parked at no charge on the entry level of the parking structure. Bike racks are located by the elevators.

Groups of more than 15 motorcyclists must make a reservation and pay a separate fee for each space. Two motorcycles will fit in one space.

Oversized Vehicles
Parking for vehicles between 6'10" and 12'6" tall and of standard car length and width is available on level P1. There is no parking for RVs, motor homes, limousines, and other larger vehicles.

Electric Cars
Parking with plug-ins for electric vehicles is available.

Admission
Admission to the Getty Villa and to all exhibitions is FREE. An advance, timed ticket is required. Groups of nine or more must make reservations by calling (310) 440-7300.

 

Location
The Getty Villa is located at 17985 Pacific Coast Highway in Pacific Palisades, California, one mile north of Sunset Boulevard. It is approximately 25 miles west of downtown Los Angeles.

Driving Directions
From Los Angeles, take the I-10 (Santa Monica Freeway) west until it turns into Route 1 (Pacific Coast Highway) going north along the Pacific Ocean. Continue on Route 1 for approximately five miles to the Getty Villa.

Please note that visitors must approach the Getty Villa from the south. Access to the Getty Villa entrance is only from the northbound right-hand lane of Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). Turning left across PCH is illegal and any attempt to enter the site via Coastline Drive is not permitted.

No walk-ins are permitted except for those arriving by public transportation. Passengers exiting at PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) and Coastline Drive to visit the Getty Villa must have their Villa admission ticket hole-punched by the driver before exiting the bus in order to enter the Villa.

There are designated handicapped-accessible spaces on the lowest level of the parking structure.

Public Transportation
Metro Bus 534 stops at Coastline Drive and Pacific Coast Highway directly across from the Getty Villa entrance. To find the route that is best for you, call (800) COMMUTE or use the Trip Planner on www.metro.net, the Web site of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

Passengers exiting at PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) and Coastline Drive to visit the Getty Villa must have their Villa admission ticket hole-punched by the driver before exiting the bus in order to enter the Villa.

Drop-off
Passenger drop-offs are permitted inside the entrance gate for vehicles of nine passengers or less, once each person being dropped off has been checked for a Villa ticket. Security officers or Visitor Services staff at the Getty Villa entrance gate will direct you to the drop-off area.

No walk-ins are permitted except for those arriving by public transportation. Passengers must have their Villa admission ticket hole-punched by the driver before exiting the bus in order to enter the Villa.

Taxis
Taxis can drop off and pick up passengers in the designated area inside the Villa entrance gate. Security officers or Visitor Services staff will direct the taxi to the drop-off area.

Visitors who take a taxi to the Villa must present a taxi receipt along with a Villa ticket.

No walk-ins are permitted except for those arriving by public transportation. Passengers must have their Villa admission ticket hole-punched by the driver before exiting the bus in order to enter the Villa.

Motorcycles and Bicycles
Bicyclists can park their bicycles without charge at the Pacific Coast Highway gate. A complimentary shuttle must then be taken to the Visitor Drop-Off Shuttle Stop near the Loggia.

Motorcyclists must pay the parking fee. One motorcycle will fit in each space.
