The Getty Research Institute

Atsuko/Electric Dress

This two-day intensive workshop at the Getty Research Institute provides twelve advanced doctoral candidates in Art History with the opportunity to discuss their various projects with each other and with two senior professors in the field. The unusual format—in which each participant presents the project of another—is designed to stimulate new perspectives, mutual support, and constructive critique. The goal of the workshop is to provide each participant with a richer sense of his or her project, its broader art historical implications, and its place within an increasingly pluralistic professional world.

The Getty Research Institute provides accommodations and up to $500 reimbursement for travel expenses.

This workshop is designed for students in the midst of writing their dissertations. Applicants must have advanced to candidacy, written at least one chapter of the dissertation, and expect to finish after 2007. If you would like to participate, please send your dissertation proposal, an update on the status of your project, a current curriculum vitae, and a letter of recommendation from your thesis advisor to: Sabine Schlosser; Research and Education Department; Getty Research Institute; 1200 Getty Center Drive, Suite 1100; Los Angeles, CA 90049.

Application materials must be received by January 10, 2007.
